When Your Agent Can’t Find Enough Matching Jobs

Heads up: Sometimes the job market simply doesn’t have many roles that match your current preferences. A few quick adjustments usually unlock a much larger pool of opportunities. Follow this guide to tweak your targeting, check the job market, and relaunch your Job Search Agent.

Step 1 — Broaden Your Three Key Preferences

Preference

How to Broaden

Example

Job Title

Use a broader title or close synonym

Frontend Developer → Software DeveloperFrontend Engineer

Location Type

Add more flexibility

Hybrid → On-site or Any

Employment Type

Select more formats

Full-time only → Full-time + Contract or Any

Tip: Even one broader title can 2–5× the number of jobs your Agent finds.

Step 2 — Check the Job Market on LinkedIn (~2 Minutes)

  1. Open LinkedIn Jobs

  2. Enter your revised job title

  3. Set filters:

    • Location: match your preferred type (On-site / Hybrid / Remote)

    • Date Posted:

      • Daily Agent → Past day

      • Weekly Agent → Past week

  4. Review results:

    • If still low, broaden your title or location type further.

Goal: See a steady stream of fresh postings for your revised preferences.

Step 3 — Update & Relaunch in Agent Studio

1. Open Agent Studio

2. Click Edit Agent Targeting

3. Submit your updated preferences

Once submitted, your Agent will immediately rerun the search and send fresh matches with application kits. Note that each Agent job collection comes with two attempts — the first collection and a second backup collection, triggered manually, if results were too low.

Example Adjustments

  • Frontend Developer → Software DeveloperFrontend Engineer

  • Hybrid only → On-site or Any

  • Full-time only → Full-time + Contract or Any

FAQ

Will broadening hurt relevance?

No — your Agent still filters for top matches within your updated scope.

When should I adjust?

Whenever your Agent reports the market has too few roles matching your preferences.

Quick Action Plan

Pick → Test → Update

  1. Choose a broader title or synonym

  2. Test it on LinkedIn

  3. Update in Agent Studio
